Are you kidding me?

So, the AC is not working right. It is blowing air...luke warm air! I can't get a hold of anyone at the repair shop! It's back up to 81 degrees in here...looks like we are in for another L-O-N-G night!

Welcome Home!

We arrived home Tuesday night from our week long trip to Southern California. We walked in to an 87 degree home, to find out that our air conditioning was broken. It was 10:30 at night, so we got to tough it out until the repair man could come fix it yesterday afternoon. The only thing he could figure was that there was some huge power surge while we were gone, that blew the transformer and caused a wire to fry. But he got it fixed, and our house has finally cooled off.

Dishes

Justin was doing the dishes this morning (Yea!!!!) while I gave Austin a bath. He ran away from me while I was getting his clothes out. I found him in the kitchen, "helping" with the dishes and couldn't resist a few pictures!!

Austin's First Haircut

Take One

I decided a while ago that it was finally time to cut Austin's hair. His hair was really not that long, he just has two big cowlicks (and that really is how you spell it!!) that were making it very difficult to comb his hair and have it look decent. So, I took my first attempt at it on July 6th. These pictures aren't very good, but you can kind of see.

I cut his hair with scissors...not the best idea. I was able to get a little bit off, but it was very uneven. So, I decided that we needed to try again- to make it a little shorter, but especially to even it up.

Take Two

This morning, we decided to give it another shot. This time we opted for the clippers, and Justin got a turn playing barber. Austin did pretty well, and Justin did a great job, considering Austin didn't want to hold his head still.

It turned out pretty well. It is a little shorter than I was planning, but still looks good. We need to touch up a few spots still, but thought we would give Austin a little break for a while. He looks like such a big boy now!!

Gram Cracka

That it what we jokingly call my mom. When I was pregnant, I asked her what she wanted the baby to call her- she came up with "Gram Cracka"...I think as a joke, but it has kinda stuck.

My family had not seen Austin since we were in Houston in January. So, it was so nice to have my mom come visit for a few days. It amazes me how much Austin has changed, so I can't even imagine what a surprise it was for her (and will be for all my siblings when we see them next week! YEAH!!!)

Austin warmed up to Gram really quickly...which is a good thing, I think she would have been beyond heart broken if he had been standoffish towards her!

We had a really nice time while they were here, and can't wait to see everyone next week in CALIFORNIA!!!

4th of July

I love the 4th of July! I love all the celebration, the fireworks, and just spending time with family, enjoying the freedom we have in this wonderful country. I was so excited to be able to let Austin enjoy his first 4th of July. We were lucky to have my mom, Chuck, and Charles in town to celebrate the holiday with us.

We went to watch fireworks on Thursday (July 3rd) in North Salt Lake. They put on an amazing fireworks shows every year. It is at the golf course, so we just take a bunch of blankets, and hang out with family waiting for the show to start. I was a little nervous that Austin might be scared by the fireworks, since they were going off right over our heads. He got a little scared a few times, but for the most part really enjoyed it.

On the actual 4th, we stayed home, had a bar-b-que, and did some fireworks. I am so excited that one of my best friends, Katie, is back in the area for a few months. She and her family came over for the afternoon. It has been so great to be able to catch up with her. Austin has also really enjoyed having her 2 little girls to play with!

We set up the sprinkler and a little pool in the backyard, and let the kids run around for a while. Austin wasn't quite sure about it all at first, but eventually thought it was fun!

Water Fun

This is Austin's first experience playing in water (besides in the bathtub). We had set up the soaker hose in the back yard. I took Austin with me while I was working in the garden for a little bit. He immediately found the hose, and began playing in the water. He really enjoyed it...except when he fell right next to the hose and the water was spraying right in his face. It is so much fun to get to watch him explore the world, and experience all these things for the first time!

Blossoming Personality

Austin is definitely getting more of a personality these days. He literally RUNS almost everywhere he goes. He loves to shut himself in rooms, so the doors are usually closed before he can get to them. He sure does keep me running!

He has decided that he only likes a very limited number of foods, including: cheese, cheese quesadillas, fruit, yogurt, and chicken nuggets! This is very frustrating, when this sweet little guy used to eat pretty much anything I would put in front of him. We are crossing our fingers that it is just a phase!!

It has also become very hard to get a decent picture of this child. Most end up looking like this...unless he is totally distracted and doesn't realize you have the camera.

It is a really good thing he is such a good looking kid, cause even the goofy looking pictures still turn out okay!
